roasting since 2012

Building genuine relationships with coffee producers is at the heart of everything we do. We believe these connections matter because they mean better coffee for you and a positive impact on the communities we source from. We partner with producers we know and trust, ensuring quality throughout every step of the roasting process. Our ethical sourcing prioritizes empowering farmers and fostering sustainability. This commitment results in great coffee that reflects a deep respect for people and the planet.

B Corp Certified

As a company, we were drawn to the B Corp movement a few years ago. We had to re-evaluate our business practices, partner with suppliers that shared our values, and take a hard look at our operations from the ground up. B Corp provided us with a clear path to staying true to our values. Through dedicated leadership in sourcing and a focus on aligning our values with every partnership, we implemented changes that minimised our environmental impact and empowered the coffee-growing communities we source from. Becoming a B Corp isn't just about a badge – it's a roadmap for improvement.  It's about being transparent, accountable, and owning every aspect of our operation—from sourcing green coffee to providing excellent service. B Corp encompasses everything we do at Bell Lane Coffee, including how we interact with our team, customers, suppliers, and the wider community.

sourcing

At Bell Lane our approach to sourcing is very simple. We look at purpose rather than definitions set by market trends. Following three main pillars:

Financial stability. This allows us to build strong bonds with our producers, continuously improve the quality and allows for future growth. It can only be achieved by being transparent.

Relationships. We believe relationships are key for longevity of the industry. It can only be proven by time and so far, we are proud of our success.

Coffees we love. Trends are constantly changing yet we always look for crisp, layered, and complex coffees rather than fermentation styles.

impact

Our rebrand signifies a commitment to transparency and sharing meaningful stories. During a conversation with Maria Reneé Morales, manager of Volcafe Guatemala, when we asked how can we contribute to the local community, her reply was simple, one word: "teeth". Enter "Sonrisas," meaning "smiles," a dental initiative that emerged from our conversation. We donated €5000; Volcafe UK & Ireland matched our contribution. In 2023, over a four-week period, 3,800 coffee producers and their families received vital medical and dental care.

  • planet

We're committed to environmental stewardship. Whether it's our coffee sourcing or our roasting processes or packaging, we're conscious of our impact. Our packaging is kind to the earth, made from 83% post-consumer recycled material. Every time we can, we repurpose materials. We partner with coffee producers who use sustainable farming practices. Our coffee chaff gets recycled as mulch and hessian sacks are given away for craft projects. By embracing sustainability and incorporating these practices into our operations, we're making a positive difference for our planet.
