In 2011, Don Bolney and Doña Adeleine relocated from Tolima to Pitalito, where they began again on a smaller 7-hectare farm. Today, just 1,700 Gesha trees grow across 1.5 hectares, planted widely to give each tree space to thrive. This careful, patient approach produces an elegant and expressive cup, with delicate floral aromatics, ripe peach sweetness and a bright lift of lemongrass.

This Coffee's Story

In 2011, Don Bolney and Doña Adeleine left their home in Tolima behind, as the conflict there made staying too dangerous for their family. A neighbour helped them trade their 13-hectare farm for a smaller, 7-hectare plot in Pitalito.

This Gesha from just 1,700 trees, planted wide apart on 1.5 hectares to give them room to grow tall. It's a slow, careful way to farm, and it shows in the cup: floral, peachy, with a lift of lemongrass.

Doña Adeleine's part in this rarely gets heard, but it should, she runs the household that keeps the farm's workers fed and looked after, every day, for however many hands are needed that season.
