The Shale Washing Station, located near the town of Worka in Ethiopia’s Yirgacheffe region, processes coffee from nearly 1,500 smallholder farmers who deliver freshly-picked cherries throughout the harvest. The station uses a meticulous washing process, grading cherries by density in open tanks, and drying the beans on African beds for optimal quality.

This Heirloom from Shale Washing Station is carefully processed to showcase the distinctive Yirgacheffe flavours. After being hand-picked, the cherries are washed, soaked, and dried under the sun and shade for 10 days. Following this, the beans are manually sorted before being packaged in GrainPro bags, ensuring a vibrant, high-quality cup.
